Local youth Moana, Jordyn and Riley are happy to answer travellers' questions this summer and to provide excellent customer service to all visitors to our islands.

Local art and crafts, books, clothing, jewelry etc. available at our well-stocked gift shop. Come and visit us :)

Loggers Sports Day is back on July 29th!

Originally run by a subcommittee of the Moresby Island Management Committee, this annual event is now overseen by the SCS and a group of very dedicated volunteers.

This event has been happening in Sandspit for almost 60 years and is open for anyone to participate in. There are lots of prizes and it is a fun time for all!

The Child Care Resource & Referral Program (CCRR) provides support, resources and referral services for child care providers, parents, and caregivers in all communities on Haida Gwaii.

The Moresby Market is always looking for new vendors and there are a variety of ways to get involved!

• Annual membership is only $50/year for adults and $25/year for children. 

• Drop-in fee is $10/table. An affordable option for occasional attendance.

• A collective table is available for those who are unable to attend in-person for any reason. Simply drop off your wares at set-up time (10:30-11am) and pick up at closing time (1-1:15pm). Vendors receive 75% of revenue, paid monthly.

Summer Reading Club 2023 has started! Pick up your reading records and activity sheets at the Sandspit Library and track your reading to win cool prizes.

Kids Summer Reading Club- A Journey Through Time

Ages 0-12

Pick up a reading record at the branch, follow the instructions to register online and then get reading! Read something everyday and submit draw slips weekly for a chance to win a cook book prize every week. A grand prize will be drawn at the end of the summer using all your submitted slips so the more you read the more chances you have to win!

Timey-Wimey Teen Summer Challenge

Ages 12-18

Based on the popular TV show ‘Doctor Who’, this year’s teen challenge is full of fun reading and crafting activities. Complete challenges to earn points and a chance to win incredible prizes including the grand prize of a Nintendo Switch!

Adult Summer Reading Challenge-Time Travel Bingo

Ages 19+

Play bingo with your summer reads and have fun right along with your kids and teens. The grand prize is a $100 gift certificate to a book store of your choice. Participate online or with a paper reading record found at the Sandspit Library.

Thanks to all who continue to drop off cans and bottles as a donation to the recycling depot. It helps the youth of Sandspit and keeps the landfill a little less full!

Depot Notes:

It would be greatly appreciated if cans/bottles were pre-sorted into the following separate bags/boxes:

-beer cans (& any cans that held an alcoholic beverage)

-pop cans

-water bottles

-wine bottles

**Please note milk containers and/or tetra juice packs are no longer accepted due to hygiene concerns.

Pre-sorting will help the kids sort quicker, especially during the busy

summer months!
